The Ski Swap started in 1977 as a fundraiser for the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at San Ramon Valley High. Over the last 40 yrs, many changes have been made.. Vendors were added, and the event was moved into the gym. Remember the old gym? (see photo).
What started out as a small garage sale operation has evolved into to one of Northern California's largest non-commercial ski swaps and the only one in the east bay. And it continues to evolve.
The drought was tough on the Ski Swap, but we persevered and added bikes to the inventory. In 2016, multiple resource constraints prevented the PTSA from holding it's annual fundraiser. But it wasn't the first time in the Swap's history there wasn't a swap. There wasn't a swap in 2009, also due to resource conflicts.
As the Swap continues to evolve and change throughout the years, one thing hasn't changed. The involvement and support of the community is what keeps this tradition alive in Danville. Other schools have tried to replicate the swap, but haven't been as successful as San Ramon Valley High. The Swap runs because of the dedicated parents and students at SRVHS. There will be a couple of changes this year also. No bikes and no consignment. But you still will be able to find new and used merchandise, and big savings on skis, boots, boards, outerwear, goggles and more. Kids and adults will be able to find everything they need to hit the slopes in style.
Admission $5 (free for 5 and under with adult)
